Psychotherapy vs. Therapeutic Coaching
-
Psychotherapy is the collaborative examination of the client’s psyche by both the Client and the Psychotherapist. Themes are explored and questions are posited to deepen the understanding and satisfaction of day-to-day life.
Notably, psychotherapy has both benefits and risks. Risks may include experiencing uncomfortable feelings, such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness, because the process of psychotherapy often requires discussing the unpleasant aspects of your life.
However, psychotherapy has been shown to have benefits for individuals who undertake it.
Therapy often leads to a significant reduction in feelings of distress, increased satisfaction in interpersonal relationships, greater personal awareness and insight, increased skills for managing stress and resolutions to specific problems.
Psychotherapy requires a very active effort on your part. In order to be most successful, I will challenge you and support you to work on things we discuss outside of sessions.

Therapeutic Coaching is a proven and accessible way for clients who no longer live in the state of California to work with me to help achieve their goals.
I am licensed in the State of California by the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LMFT/Psychotherapist, but my license extends only within the bounds of California.
Video platforms such as Zoom have given practitioners and clients the ability to stay connected in ways that were previously inaccessible.
I am now able to offer services to those residing outside of California as a Therapeutic Coach.
Coaching may address specific personal struggles, business issues, or general conditions in the client's life or profession. Therapeutic Coaching explores value clarification, brainstorming, identifying plans of action, examining modes of operation in life, asking clarifying questions, and making empowering requests or suggestions for action. Additionally, the client may be asked to reflect on difficult topics or situations which may result in an expression of emotions.
Throughout the working relationship, we will engage in direct and personal conversations. Successful coaching requires a co-active collaborative approach between client and coach. In the coaching relationship, the coach plays the role of a facilitator of change, but it is the client's responsibility to enact or bring about the change.
